Just got $200 worth of brakes and fluids from Advance for $75 (thanks for the free $40 oil filter Advance!)...Rover is getting new rear brakes as soon as they show up.
What’s Oppo doing to their cars this New Year?

I ordered parts a couple days ago. I need a new oil filter housing for my 2011 Camry. I’m doing an oil change this weekend and then sending some oil out for analysis. I’m also just installed new husky liners in the car. There’s also a good chance I put new headlights on as the housings are starting to fog a little bit and I’ll check out where I’m at with brakes next time I rotate the tires.

Same-ish, since my kids cars are home for mid-year break . Three oil changes, two PCV fittings, one tire rotation . Speedperks for the win!

I will probably get EBC yellow stuff pads, bigger injectors and a dyno tune this year for the Mini.

This wing, new tires, and a strut tower brace. Hopefully some other stuff too, but those are the priorities

Fuck all except tire changes and oil changes.
I’ve heard of aftermarket ECUs for the 1.6T Fortes which bump up power and improve throttle response (both of which I wouldn’t mind) but in addition to the ECU it requires upgraded plugs, installation of a catch can, and are generally tuned for premium gas. At this point , I’d rather put all of this money towards a sweet trip first.

GTI: Getting a sway bar from Limi tedTimeOnly soon, and that’s it. Other than the badge vinyl I posted about last night.
4Runner: Getting the back window fixed, but I’ve said that for two years in a row now.

I need to get the winter wheels and tires we bought onto my wife’s car.
I’m thinking about getting a new exhaust for my truck this year. It’ll also be time for a transmission service that I’ll do in the spring. I also need to revisit the light mount I built for it. I don’t like the current mount and want to move the lights a bit closer to the grill.

POR15 XJ axles...
I mentioned it yesterday but the can says it needs to be 60-90°F to be applied. Sooooo, that’s probably not happening soon. Unless I can get a garage heater that isn’t a flame (propane top hat).
I got word that both manifolds are cracked on my parents $300 Xterra, so Depending on how big of a job that is I may tackle that. Since I’ve replaced some bolt on exhaust stuff my confidence is up, but I’ve never replaced manifolds and breaking bolts in the engine scares me. Can I do it with out pulling the motor?
Van needs a front plate, I’ve been lazy for 3 years and not put one on. Also other maintenance.
Equinox, meh.
Silverwing needs to get the overheating situated.

Im assuming this question involves the rest of the year as well? In that case, new cam seals, new wheels, new tires, hopefully a good suspension upgrade (coilovers, thicker sway bars, end links, the whole shebangbang). Thats the shortlist for now, Im sure itll grow longer eventually..

Rabbit: lofty goal is still TDI swap. Money will ultimately determine if that happens or not. If my bonus and taxes allow another 2500 on project car this year, than hell yes it’s gonna happen. If not it’ll just get a clean up and, the wiring harness re-done, and hopefully all the oil leaks fix. Also some little interior resto-modding.

Last week I ordered a new dipstick (old one broke off in the tube, still trying to figure that one out) and some new side marker lenses. I don’t like that they’re tinted and new ones were like two bucks each on rockauto. Ambers will be better than black- I also plan to eventually restore the also tinted tail lights so I can actually be seen from behind
in my 22 year old tin can at night.

Hopefully nothing but new tires for the Saabaru.
The Camaro I would like to replace the steering wheel with a less worn one
, fix some steering column slop, get new gears that don’t whine
, and replace a header gasket.

Might trade the WRX in on a truck. Not sure how much I want to spend on the 128i having just bought it; planning on a full suspension upgrade (M3 arms, coil overs, swaybars) and an LSD, wheels and tires and a couple of small visual upgrades. I may keep it to wheels/tires/brake pads/fluid for autocross and any maintenance needs for the first year. We shall see.

Still waiting to get the engine back from the shop, but it’s getting dropped in, hooked back up, then I still have to replace my transmission dipstick and tailshaft seal. B ack in the car, need to fix one body mount, fix my shifter, and get everything buttoned back up. Then see if I fucked anything up. All it should need is tires.

Ordered Hella Supertones for the ‘19 WRX yesterday. I’m constantly creeping out of alleys and parking garages with blind corners and the stock horns do nothing to alert pedestrians that I’m coming. Once the break-in period is up, I need to let my husband practice driving it.
May be trading in the ‘08 RAV4 on a Tacoma. We’ll see. I need to pull one from the press fleet first and give it a review. My husband really wants one, but hasn’t actually driven one or spent any time in it.

Whatever pops into my head.
So basically everything.
And probably more than that.
Just found out that the 08 WK uses a completely different FCM harness (C2) for HID.
So that’s the entire engine bay that needs disassembled then. Ah well. Guess I’ll put it off till it’s engine-out time.

I used to own Subies back when they were interesting; the thing the bugged me the most was the crappy horn “meep”.
You won’t regret the Taco, unless you drive a Tundra.

I spent a lot of time in Tacomas when I was covering the Rebelle Rally last fall, and everyone assured me we wouldn’t regret it.
I drove VWs and Audis “ back when Subarus were interesting” but I lived in Vermont at the time so I was sick of looking at Outbacks and Legacys. Never thought back then I’d ever end up buying a new WRX, but 2018 was weird.

The housing is plastic and you have to use a special wrench to get it off and when I looked at it last time some of the splines on the outside on the left and right had cracked or broken off. I’m assuming it’s original and is a combination of age and whoever had been doing the oil changes before I got it. I don’t want them all to break off and then get stuck with it not on properly so I ordered a new one. They make metal ones for the Lexus models but they are slightly different (part number and design) so I just got the same one instead of risking a possibly different metal one.

Well I learned a thing. I’ve dealt with oil filter housings like that on German cars and on my LR, but I would have assumed Toyota would use a basic spin-on filter. Especially on the Camry, with such a high fleet usage.

Yeah I was surprised too, my 05 Corolla had the cam style and was easier to do than this and didn’t require a special tool to remove.
